"The Beach" Volleyball Rules and Policies

Registration and League Fees. The registration form (link coming soon) must be completed on-line. The Beach prefer payment be made through our on-line payment page (Paypal), but if a team is unable to pay online, then any individual from that team can bring a check, payable to The Beach, to management of The Beach or the league director prior to the team’s first match. Any team that does not pay in full prior to their first match but is able to pay prior to their second match will be assessed a late penalty of $25 to be included with their league fee. After the second week, any team not paid will be dropped from the league.

Schedules. S chedules that provide game times, dates and opposing team names will be posted at www.thebeachatcr.com (“Website”) and on the schedule board located at The Beach (“Schedule Board”). Court assignments are generally written on the Schedule Board, where the wins are recorded after the match.

*Initially, only the first week schedules are posted to allow for any adjustments or corrections. The remainder of the season will be posted shortly after the first night of play.

Match Time . Match time is the time your game starts. All match times are posted on our Website and on the Schedule Board. On league nights, initial match times are expected to be 6:45, 7:40, 8:35, and 9:30. Your team should be present, warmed up and at your assigned court ready to play at least ten minutes prior match time. See “Forfeits” for details on how to handle teams being late.

Forfeits or No Call, No Show. If a team cannot, for any reason, play any of their games in a match, they will record three (3) losses and as long as the opposing team shows up at the scheduled match time, the opposing team will claim three (3) wins. Teams that are late have ten (10) minutes to field enough players to start the first game before the first game is considered a forfeit. The same late team has five (5) additional minutes to field a team for the second game before the second game is considered a forfeit. At twenty (20) minutes past the first game’s start time, all three (3) games are forfeited. If a team forfeits the entire match twice, they will be removed from the schedule, forfeit their league fees; and miss the playoffs regardless of their record. The on-site league coordinator may extend leniency where extenuating circumstances exist.

* Only the on-site league coordinator can call forfeits. In cases of a possible no show, the team in waiting needs to contact the on-site league coordinator.

Notification of No Show. I f a team cannot make a scheduled match, a player from the team must call or email at least 24 hours in advance to possibly avoid forfeiting the match. Upon receiving notice, The Beach will try to find the opposing team a new opponent from the league and if successful, the two teams will become the new “scheduled ‟ match and the original match will be treated as if it was never scheduled. If the Beach is unsuccessful in finding a new opponent, the match will be forfeited and the details of Forfeit above will apply. Of course, the more notice that is given, the higher chance a new opponent will be found. If a player from the team sends an email in error or the team changes its mind, The Beach cannot guarantee that they will have a match available for that night.

Playoffs. Generally, only the top half of any particular division will make the playoffs. The exact number of teams that will make the playoffs is determined on a league-by-league basis.

Rainouts/Other League Cancellations. Any notice concerning a rainout or other league cancellation will be posted at the Website by 4:45 pm on the day of the rainout or cancellation. If by 4:45 pm, we are unsure of a rainout or if weather moves in subsequent to this time, please call (469) 247-3744 or check the Website again before heading to The Beach for your games. The Beach will do our best to provide you as much advance notice as possible.
